Darren Waller Is Out of Retirement
In a surprising move to this off season, the Miami Dolphins decided to trade away current TE Jonnu Smith to the Steelers. This left no starting TE on the roster, but the Dolphins had a plan in their gills.
The Dolphins are in trade talks to acquire Darren Waller, currently retired, to come out of retirement and join the Miami Dolphins.
Waller is only 31 and decided to retire after a single season with the New York Giants. The Giants still held the rights to his contract, which meant Miami had to give up a bit of draft capital to acquire the talented retired TE.
The biggest question will be the production that the Dolphins could see from Waller considering, as a member of the Raiders, he had back to back 1000 yard seasons. Posting his best career year in 2020, Waller had 107 receptions with near 1200 yards receiving and a personal best 9 touchdowns.
If the Dolphins have played their cards right, they could have a sneaky threat to add to the list of weapons the Dolphins already have at a very cheap price.
Steelers Make Moves
After signing their future retired QB after this season likely, the Steelers were at it again. They reached out to the Dolphins and traded for CB Jalen Ramsey, and TE Jonnu Smith. This also coming from trading George Pickens to the Cowboys, making the Steelers limited on the receiving talent they have on the roster.
Because of this trade, the Dolphins coerced Darren Waller to join them and gave the Giants a 6th round pick for it.
